Lenia Safiropoulou is a classical singer, poet and translator. She studied singing, piano and art song in Stuttgart and opera in the Guildhall School of Music and the National Opera Studio in London. She writes and translates poetry from English, French, German and Russian. Her first book Paternoster Square (Polis editions) received the prize Anagnostis for 2012. Her second poetry book It’s hard to stumble on stones was published in 2016 (Patakis editions). Her poetic translations include an anthology with Goethe and Heine poems and a cd with musical settings of the poems by German romantic composers (Patakis editions), as well as the complete Shakespeare’s Sonnets (Gutenberg editions, Athens 2016).
