Doukas Kapantaïs was born in Athens in 1971. He is the son of the sculptor Vassos Kapantaïs and the novelist Ismini Kapantaï. He has Phd degrees from the Universities of Paris IV-Sorbonne (1998) and Bern (2007). His field of expertise lies within Ancient Greek Philosophy and Modern Mathematical Logic. He is currently Research Assistant Professor in the Centre for Greek Philosophy at the Academy of Athens, and has taught Philosophy of Logic in Athens University. In 2004, his book of poems Boys and Girls was published by Nefeli ed.

“Life the rattle of a brat who plays….”

Kapantais belongs to a new generation of writers who in the past few years have ventured on a dynamic and serious return to poetry. Although the debate on “traditional forms” has proven fruitless (since the matter in question is always one, that is whether the completed artifact, in traditional verse or not, is integral), he, maybe the only one among the poets of his generation prefers sophisticated metrics. He renders his poetics- mainly through the form of sonnet- in a manner which brings out his unfailing sarcastic vain, his flair with verses and his particular and powerful capacity of contemplation.
